Spring 2026 Chapter Meeting — New Member Installation
The Polly Wyckoff–David Demarest Chapter welcomed new members into the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution at our spring chapter meeting, held in the gracious setting of The South Presbyterian Church. New members raised their right hands and took the DAR oath, joining a proud tradition of patriotic service and historic preservation that spans more than a century in Bergen County. The chapter also enjoyed a fascinating program on DAR American Heritage Committee. — a wonderful reminder of the rich cultural connections between our patriot ancestors and the arts. We are thrilled to be growing our chapter family!
DAR Day of Service 2025 — Historic New Bridge Landing
Members of the Polly Wyckoff–David Demarest Chapter rolled up their sleeves for the National DAR Day of Service, joining together at Historic New Bridge Landing in River Edge, NJ for a community planting project. Working alongside the Bergen County Historical Society, chapter members tended to the grounds of this cherished Revolutionary War landmark, ensuring its beauty and vitality for generations to come. This planting is part of a three-year commitment by the PW–DD Chapter during this administration, continuing through the 250th anniversary in 2028. Pocket Constitutions were distributed to all participants in the spirit of America 250.
Chapter Meeting at Historic New Bridge Landing 2025
Members of the Polly Wyckoff–David Demarest Chapter gathered at Historic New Bridge Landing in River Edge, NJ for a memorable chapter event featuring a colonial living history experience. A costumed interpreter brought 18th-century life to vivid reality, sharing the stories and traditions of Revolutionary-era Bergen County. Members enjoyed a delicious meal prepared from the historic outdoor kitchen, celebrating the flavors and spirit of our patriot ancestors. Historic New Bridge Landing, one of the most significant Revolutionary War sites in New Jersey, serves as a cherished gathering place for our chapter as we continue our commitment to historic preservation and patriotism in our community.
Dewint House, Tappan, NY
The Polly Wyckoff-David Demarest Chapter, NSDAR, held a meeting at the historical Dewint House in Tappan, New York. It is one of the oldest surviving structures in Rockland County, New York, having been built in 1700 and is an outstanding example of Hudson Valley Dutch Colonial architecture. It served as George Washington’s headquarters three times during the American Revolutionary War including the trial of Major Andre. We were treated to a tour by the caretaker who related many interesting facts about life at the house during that time as well as the work to restore the house to the way it was when George Washington visited. Following the tour, we had an outdoor meeting and picnic lunch under the trees.
